About us

Hilton Lake Taupo is a 113 room hotel situated near beautiful Lake Taupo. We have a small friendly culturally diverse team of 85 hospitality professionals. We would love you to join us in the weekends and holidays to assist our Food & Beverage Team.

Below are the some of the responsibilities of a Food & Beverage Attendant and what is required: 

Continually strive to improve your product knowledge so that you can give our Guests the best service and advice possible.
Be a shining example of hospitality always looking to improve the Guest experience.
Actively upsell within the department, by adding value to the guest experience through suggestive selling.
Recognise our regular guests and make them feel welcome and part of the hotel.
Be aware of, and knowledgeable about the specials of the day, product of the month, wine of the month etc. so that you can communicate these to the guest.
Be aware of any special dietary requirements, particularly in relation to food allergies and make both the kitchen and the restaurant team aware. Know what to do in the event of an allergic reaction or anaphylactic shock.
Have at least a basic knowledge of wines (at a minimum wine by the glass and house wines) so that you can assist the guest.
When in Room Service be aware of the etiquette of entering a guest room and the service standards for delivery and placement of meals within the room.
Assist as and when required with Conference and Events
Have a good telephone manner when called upon to answer guest calls for Room Service and always offer extra services to enhance the dining experience (rather than the guest having to call down and wait for delivery of additional items).
Making sure that the guest’s bill is accurate by inputting the correct information into the Micros system

As a Food & Beverage Attendant you will help ensure that the work environment is safe, happy and productive by:

Taking personal responsibility for your career and learning
Attending training as required
Ensuring that you conduct yourself in a manner consistent with good Occupational Safety and Health practices
Making sure that you do what is required of you in terms of Mis en Place and preparation for the start and finish of the shift – setting and breaking down meal the various meal periods, setting up buffets, laying tables, collecting trays, setting trays etc
Working as a team and making sure that you do your part to live the Teamwork Value in everything you do
Attending communication meetings and actively participating in your department’s activities
Checking your roster and being on time and ready for your shift
