IT Service Desk Coordinator (20 hours per week) – Mokoia Campus Rotorua

Toi Ohomai delivers quality vocational education and training to both domestic and international students, across five main campuses in Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupō, Tokoroa and Whakatāne, and numerous delivery sites across the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato.

Toi Ohomai is now a division of Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology and part of a transformational change unifying all 16 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics across Aotearoa; together with other work-based, provider-based and online learning. Collectively we will be NZ’s largest tertiary education provider with national and regional reach enabling learners and employers to move seamlessly between workplaces, other educational offerings and locations as their needs change.

This part-time (0.5FTE) Service Desk Coordinator role will be based at our Rotorua Mokoia campus in the Bay of Plenty. The role is both stimulating and multi-dimensional. The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating requests for service and incidents from across all of our campuses, and ensuring appropriate action and response is given.

Reporting to the IT Customer Engagement Manager, this role will contribute significantly to our customer-focused ethos by:

  • Being a champion for customer service
  • Providing first line IT support
  • Assignment and prioritisation of work requests to engineers and desktop support staff
  • Ordering equipment or parts from suppliers
  • Maintaining an up-to-date asset register of equipment in use
  • Providing administrative support to the IT team where needed

Key to your success in this role will be your demonstrated ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, whilst being able to motivate colleagues and offer a friendly experience to our stakeholders.

You will ideally have experience in first line IT customer support, coupled with a keenness to learn and develop in an ever-changing industry. The ideal candidate must, more importantly, possess strong communication, customer service and organisational skills.
